Over the past weekend I followed through with a challenge I presented on the Dirt in Your Skirt Facebook page. Following through with your word is extremely important to me and well this was one of the more extreme challenges I have been given. On Sunday, I set out to complete 1804 Burpees, in order to get this challenge completed I knew one thing nutrition would be key!
I often have been told I take things to the extreme and with these extreme challenges, Death Races, World’s Toughest Mudder, Ultra Marathons, and multiday stage races one thing is for sure I need nutritional supplements to get me through. On Sunday, I started my morning with a Detonate pill to give me the energy to make it through the day. Before starting my challenge I mixed two gallons of Glycofuse and had my Aminolast next to the Gylcofuse.
As I set out to complete this task I broke up the burpees into sets of fifty. I have learned one thing when setting off on a nearly impossible task the best thing to do is to break it up into sets and all of a sudden the impossible becomes possible. Between each set I drank a large bottle of Glycofuse and every two hundred or so mixed the Glycofuse and Aminolast together, creating a one-two punch. When you are competing in extra long duration challenges its important to incorporate BCAA’s into your nutrition intake, Aminolast is perfect for that!
Over six hours after beginning the Burpee Challenge I found I was finished! I drank down almost all two gallons of Glycofuse and several helpings of Aminolast. I woke up the next day sore but not nearly as terrible had it been if I had not properly taken in nutrition. The next day I was able to make it to my workout at my CrossFit gym. I was moving a bit slower but was still able to make it through a tough 30/30 workout. I can honestly say after putting Glycofuse and Aminolast to the test they both out performed my expectations. I am confident that whatever tasks lay ahead my nutrition is one less thing I need to worry about!
