National Runners Day
June 5th is National Runners Day. It's the day to strap on your running shoes and take on whatever mileage you can do whether it be a half mile or half marathon. It's a day and time of year I look forward to as National Runners Day gets everyone outside and makes the real beginning of summer. With summer racing in full swing friends around me are lacing up there shoes more and more and hitting the asphalt and trails in droves.
This year it is even more special as I created a Summer 100 Challenge to get people off the couch and moving. Ton signed up for it but I am most excited about my mother, she has always been active and a hiker, but is taking on running this year. She is committing herself to it and going for it. Along with one of my sisters and one of my cousins. I love watching them take on a new challenge for themselves and bettering their health at the same time! Unfortunately this National Runners Day I am on the sideline healing up after attempting my first 100 miler this past weekend. As I soak my feet after 60 miles of pounding I will be thinking of my family out catching their miles for the day as I recover and prep for the next race! My exercise today is nothing more than a walk around the block with our dog and my family and for now I will take it after the weekend of running.
