Just returned back from sunny California. It was hard to get back in the car and drive back to cold Salt Lake City. I was just getting use to the eighty degree weather! This past weekend I competed in the toughest obstacle race yet to date. Women flew in for Atlas Race from all over the country and the world! It was my first obstacle race since World's Toughest Mudder in November and it was definitely a welcome back with a BANG!
One Saturday I lined up with friends and also the top women in the sport as we set off on the short 3-5 mile course. It was definitely a different pace from the ultra distances I have been doing. The weather warmed up quickly as well. I was definitely happy for the bottle of GlycoFuse before the race began to have a reserve of carbs during the race. We battled and I finished 15th for women the first day. It was a great course with some challenging terrain and obstacles, including the mile+ sandbag carry.
Right after the race I slipped into recovery mode and quickly had a Aminolast and MyoFusion Elite protein shake to start the quick recovery process. Sunday was the longer race and the one I had been looking forward to. The 7-9 mile course is much more suited to my recent training. Sunday morning came early and I was back at the race venue ready to go. A small field set off on Sunday morning and I managed to find my way back onto the podium with a second place finish and second fastest woman of the day. It was a great trip to California and look forward to checking out another Atlas Race in the future.
Now it's back to training and almost time to tackle the CrossFit Open once again and push myself against the best in the world.
