Summer Protein Shake
06/18/2014

It's summertime and it's no secret that I am a huge fan of juiced drinks as well as smoothies. Now that it's summer (or nearly summer) it's time for a bounty of fresh seasonal fruit. It's time to jazz up my protein shakes a bit and bring a bit of summer into my regular protein consumption. I don't eat a ton of meat therefore my shakes are an important part of my diet. So in an effort to bring some summer to my normal MyoFusion Elite Protein shakes I decided to add in some fruit and fresh mint from my backyard and really make my drink seasonal and fresh.

I added my normal 1 and a half scoop of MyoFusion Elite Vanilla Protein as well as a couple handfuls of diced watermelon and about 6-10 leaves of fresh grapefruit mint picked in the backyard. Top it all off with a scoop of Aminolast Watermelon Blast. To give it an extra little bit I added about 2-3 tablespoons of coconut milk. Normally I would add some coconut water to the whole mix. Blended it up until everything was mixed together and popped it into the fridge to chill.

Tasting it I think I have found a new favorite summer drink! Next time to try some pineapple, mango, or other summer fruits to keep making my protein drinks extra fruity in the summers. Get ready for some more options this summer, be sure to check out my instagram account as I often post pictures of new things I am working on in the kitchen.  The perfect drink before coaching my SpartanSGX class tonight at Ute CrossFit.
