learned so many valuable lessons last weekend at the Tri-State Spartan Race. We learned that no one should ever say that NJ has weak mountains and don’t ever measure the height of that mountain, until you have reached the top. The Spartan Race team put together an obstacle race that has changed all of our lives forever. Can you imagine climbing 11 miles and conquering 30+ obstacles on a NJ mountain? Team Braveheart did not know what to expect but Spartan told us that “we would know at the finish line.” Thank you Spartan Race Team we sure know. Thank you for changing our lives.
The aches, pains, cuts and bruises reminds us how strong we are, how determined we were and how serious we were about reaching our goals. I led 77 Bravehearts through one of the most difficult challenges of our lives. We went to battle. The course was raw, intense and at times felt never-ending. We had no choice but to face our fears and do whatever it took to finish. Regardless of the finishing times, nothing built self-esteem and self-confidence like accomplishment. As a whole, Team Braveheart and Gaspari Nutrition realized that if you are brave you can do anything you put your heart into.
Braveheart Greg said, “I wore my finisher’s medal and Team Braveheart/Gaspari Nutrition shirt to bed that night. It marked a year of progress, my athleticism and determination.”
“This was the biggest accomplishment ever for me. I did things I never thought I would or could do. I completed the rope traverse, the monkey bars and jumped off a cliff,” said Braveheart Jen W. Her husband, Braveheart Chris W. said, “In my 40 years of living, I can honestly say I never did anything so challenging.”
“Hands down, the best experience of my life,” said Braveheart Danielle.
Braveheart Tara said, “I’m the girl who years ago didn’t even own a pair of sneakers, and now I’m making arrangements with other Bravehearts to tackle a Spartan Beast in Texas. I have never felt so inspired in my entire life!”
“The Spartan Race and Gaspari Nutrition motivated me to make more of a commitment on my health and fitness goals. I plan on working harder to become stronger and faster and I plan to get more Spartan medals. This was an experience I will never forget,” said Braveheart Dave M.
Another valuable lesson that Team Braveheart learned is that having a team and building a family of support will give you that extra drive to finish your task. The goal of my team is to motivate each other and hold each other accountable for our actions. My rules are this: At the starting line we start out as a team and during the course we break off into our own abilities. Anytime you see a fellow Braveheart or our red and black attire and war paint you shout out the Braveheart chant. BRAVEHEART! BBRAVEHEARTT!! BBBRAVEHEARTTT!!! It lights that fire under your ass- it pushes you that much further.
“Spartan Races are the toughest obstacle races out there and the Tri-State Super has been the toughest Spartan I have done yet. There were so many times I wanted to quit but whenever I put my head down I would hear BRAVEHEART and it motivated me” said Michael John.
“I fueled up on Glycofuse and Aminolast from Gaspari Nutrition before the race and also at station #3. I felt like I could hear my body tell me, ‘you got this’, and everywhere I went racers asked me about Team Braveheart, the energy all over the mountain gave me the highest adrenaline rush of my life, “said Braveheart Jared.
“This was my first Spartan Race and I wanted to make my team proud. I gave every obstacle my all especially that horrendous rock climb. That climb had me second guessing my completion but I looked around, I saw red and black everywhere and there they were, my fellow Bravehearts yelling: BRAVEHEART! At that time I knew I couldn’t let myself or the team down! I FINISHED!” said Braveheart Jeanine.
“The shouts of Braveheart filled the landscape the entire day….Thank you, your team helped motivate me throughout the course,” said a Braveheart fan and Spartan racer.
It doesn’t matter where you are; you are nowhere compared to where you can go. If you have realistic goals and work hard to achieve them you can accomplish anything. All life is an experiment. The more experiments you make the better. My team has written me life changing messages and notes. Each individual has a unique and an amazing story. At the end of the day, each one of us is extremely happy and we feel great. I am honored and proud to be the head coach of Team Braveheart and this special and unique family. I highly recommend that you form your own team, #fuelyourself with Gaspari Nutrition and register for a Spartan Race. You don't have to be great to start, but you have to start to be great!
Thank you Spartan Race for making this the best weekend of the summer!
Thank you Gaspari Nutrition and all Team Gaspari athletes for your love, support and drive- You motivate us all to be better!!!
