Go Green, Go Lean!
06/17/2012

It’s so simple sometimes, it’s effortless.  What is the drink that burns the most fat that everyone is talking about? It’s something that has been around for years. Green Tea!

According to the Journal of American College of Nutrition, green tea actually helps you lose weight, in addition to helping control your insulin, boosting your metabolism, preventing heart disease and strengthening your bones.

Look how simple this is.  One cup of green tea a day saves your from drinking that Starbucks latte that holds about 150 calories.  Furthermore, one cup a day recovers the sensitivity of your insulin and glucose tolerance, meaning that green tea will keep you slim because your body will start to use energy more resourcefully.

Two cups of green tea day actually increases your metabolism.  Norepinephrine is known as the “fat- burning accelerator” hormone.  Green tea makes the deed of this hormone last longer.  A little tip to remember is to dunk the tea bag several times to that additional extract.  In addition, you are taking in a large amount of ‘good for you minerals’, along with preventing heart disease.

For those of you that care how heart disease is prevented by green tea, Monique Ryan, MS & RD, simplifies heart disease prevention by stating that it actually “reverses endothelial dysfunction”.   What does this mean? In the Journal of American College of Nutrition, this dysfunction is carried out by endothelium, in which the cells line the inner surface of all blood vessels.  This includes the arteries and veins.  Therefore studies have been show that blood and nutrient flow occurs properly within just 30 minutes after 2 cups or more.  The reason is the endothelia cells dilate, relaxing the arteries and veins letting in blood and nutrient flow.

How about 3 cups of green tea a day? Check back next week how green tea can reduce the fat on the body part that everyone struggles with!
